Addressing mediapersons here on Wednesday (September 9, 2026), Mr. Sanjeev accused the State government and university authorities of allowing the purported implementation of “RSS policies”, while elected Ministers were being reduced to bystanders.
According to the SFI leader, people aligned with the sangh parivar were being appointed as Vice-Chancellors, Registrars and members of university Syndicates. Besides, the composition of academic bodies was being altered to suit such vested interests.
Mr. Sanjeev also strongly criticised the police response to a recent demonstration at Kerala University to protest against the full rendition of the Vande Mataram at official programmes.
Despite less than 100 students taking part in the protest, the police contingent used excessive force against the demonstrators. He also accused the police of disregarding the provisions of the police manual that governed the use of force during demonstrations.
Mr. Sanjeev was also critical of the arrest of SFI central committee members Adarsh S.K. and Tony Kuriakose from the hospital premises while they were visiting injured activists.
Mr. Adarsh, who is presently under judicial custody in the case relating to the alleged attack on police personnel during a Secretariat march, was subsequently implicated as the 28th accused among CPI(M) activists for the alleged attack on Enforcement Directorate officials during the raid on Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence. He was apparently identified as a suspect in the particular case after the police examined visual evidence linked to the incident.
Meanwhile, the City police took the accused for evidence collection to the area in front of Mr. Vijayan’s residence near Bakery Junction.
