Complete Vengad Gosala project by May 2027: Kerala High Court
The Kerala High Court has directed the Guruvayur Devaswom managing committee to complete the Vengad Gosala project in three phases by May 31, 2027.

The Division Bench of Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan and Justice K.V. Jayakumar was informed that the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society (ULCCS) had emerged as the lowest bidder for the execution of the project and a work order was issued to it.

Three phases

The court was informed that ₹70 crore was sanctioned by the Devaswom commissioner on the basis of a detailed project report prepared by the ULCCS. It was informed that the project would be carried out in three phases and that the first phase would include cattle sheds, sick shed, isolation shed, segregation of different categories of cattle, critical veterinary infrastructure, retaining walls, septic tank, soak pit chambers, effluent treatment place, automatic water troughs, washing system, decentralised slurry and dung collection system, drains and a doctors room, among other things.

Supervision and providing technical advice for the project was assigned to the Kerala Livestock Development Board, the court noted.

The court also sought a response from the Guruvayur Devaswom on a notice by the Pollution Control Board about removing the dung accumulated in the Gosala to avoid inconveniences to neighbours.
