Steph Curry has had a storied career and established himself as one of the greatest shooters to ever play the game of basketball during his time with the Golden State Warriors. At 38 years old, everyone knows the end of his career is approaching. However, there is still no timetable for when Curry will decide to hang it up. He is also set to sign a contract extension whenever he chooses. “What the terms of a new extension look like for Curry will be completely up to him, as the Warriors are prepared to offer their star whatever he wants. If Steph wants the full $136.7 million through the 2028-29 season, he will get that. If he wants to take a discount to help the team, GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. will have no problem with said deal," NBA insider Brett Siegel wrote. Last season, Curry suffered a knee injury that kept him out of action for an extended period. “The pain and swelling in Curry's right knee initially popped up Jan. 24 during a workout in Minneapolis. He played through it for a few games before leaving the lineup Jan. 30. Curry has since missed more than two months with what is termed as "runner's knee," ESPN’s Anthony Slater wrote. That was concerning last season, and the organization allowed the injury to fully heal. However, NBC Sports’ Monte Poole reported that the issue is still causing some concern within the organization because it has not completely gone away. “There's at least some lingering concern about the knee. From what I've been told, it can be managed, but it has to be managed and that's a new thing for Steph because people always say he is the most conditioned guy in the League and now he has to manage a knee. I guess we'll find out, but from what I understand, he and his trainers have devised ways to kind of work around that and sort of support that whole possibility of the knee not being as great as he wants it to be. So, I'm curious to see how it turns out, but Steph seemed pretty confident that he'll be able to go out there and put out 70+ games,” Poole said. The encouraging news is that there is significant belief Curry will be able to play for most of the season. The concern, however, is that because the injury has become a lingering issue, it could flare up again and force him to miss more time. Curry wants to play, and he rarely sits out games unless he absolutely has to. The hope is that the knee eventually stops being an issue and the four-time NBA champion can remain fully healthy.
