Extensive security and traffic arrangements have been put in place across Ramanathapuram district for the observance of Tyagi Immanuel Sekaran Memorial Day on September 11, 2026, in Paramakudi town.

Superintendent of Police G. Chandeesh has urged the public and visitors to cooperate fully with the police and adhere strictly to the guidelines issued by the district administration.

To maintain law and order and ensure safety, 8,000 police personnel have been deployed across the district, said a press statement of the district police.

Authorities have identified 938 locations as sensitive, where dedicated picketing duty has been arranged.

Additionally, 38 police checkpoints have been established to thoroughly screen all incoming vehicles, supported by 44 four-wheeler patrol units, 67 two-wheeler patrol teams, and 700 CCTV cameras for round-the-clock surveillance, it added.

Under an order issued by the District Collector pursuant to Section 163(1) of the BNSS, specific types of vehicles will be barred from entering the district on September 11, including rental and tourist contract vehicles, open-top vehicles, two-wheelers, tractors, and bicycles. Participants travelling to the event are required to use designated routes only.

To prevent congestion and ensure smooth transit, the district administration has announced comprehensive traffic diversions.

Buses, cars, and heavy vehicles from Rameswaram and Ramanathapuram toward Madurai will be diverted via Ramanathapuram, Pattanamkathan ECR Road Junction, Peravoor ECR Road Junction, Devipattinam, R.S. Mangalam, C.K. Mangalam, Sarugani, Kalaiyarkoil, Sivagangai, Poovanthi, and Madurai.

Government buses, cars, and heavy vehicles proceeding from Madurai toward Ramanathapuram and Rameswaram via Manamadurai–Paramakudi will be routed through Madurai, Pandikoyil Junction, Poovanthi, Sivagangai, Kalaiyarkoil, Sarugani, Thiruvadanai, R.S. Mangalam, Ramanathapuram, and Rameswaram.

Further, heavy and other vehicles heading toward Ramanathapuram or Rameswaram from Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Kamuthi, and Mudukulathur must travel via Sayalkudi ECR Road, Sikkal, and Keelakarai, bypassing Paramakudi and Parthibanur entirely.

The Ramanathapuram District Police have reiterated that strict compliance with these precautionary regulations is vital to maintaining a peaceful and orderly commemoration.
