The House expressed its anger and anguish after a video surfaced on social media where BRS activist Pavani Goud along with others were see spraying turmeric and milk on the route leading to BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s farmhouse. The people in the video claimed that they were purifying the road after the Congress ‘goons’ made it impure.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka came down heavily on those carrying out purification rituals instead of expressing remorse for its mistake. He alleged that attempts were being made to take Telangana society, which had progressed through centuries of social reform, back to the medieval era. He said that society could no longer tolerate such acts of humiliation.
During the day-long discussion, all the Ministers led by Adluri Laxman, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Vivek Venkataswamy, Vakiti Srihari, Whips and MLAs alleged that BRS has this mindset in its DNA.
Later, a delegation of the Congress met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention as the highest custodian of the Constitution in the State to protect the dignity, safety and self-respect of Dalits and women, both within and beyond the physical boundaries of the Legislature.
The delegation led by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the BRS's moral values are drawn from either the German Nazi Party or the American Ku Klux Klan, and are trying to take Telangana back to the dark era when untouchability was commonplace.
