Street vendors protest GVMC's removal of pushcarts, demanding the right to resume business after 22 days of lost income.

Street vendors stage protest against GVMC’s removal of pushcarts

Several street vendors staged a protest near Venkojipalem on Tuesday, condemning the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC’s) decision to remove their pushcarts between Venkojipalem to Hanumanthawaka Junction. They demanded the GVMC to allow them to resume business at the same location.

The vendors said that they had been selling fruits in the area for more than 20 years. They alleged that the GVMC authorities had abruptly removed the pushcarts, citing increased traffic movement towards the ASR International Airport at Bhogapuram. They said that for the past 22 days they had lost their source of income and were struggling to meet their families basic needs.
