Sons Of Anarchy's Charlie Hunnam Clarifies Whether New Spinoff Is Season 8

Charlie Hunnam clarifies the upcoming Sons of Anarchy cast members, including Hunnam, playing fictionalized versions of themselves as part of a reunion that goes wrong. The meta series is titled Legends. A release date is still a long way from being announced, but it will air on FX, the original home of SoA, and stream on Hulu.

During an interview with to discuss his role in Monster season 4, which premieres September 17 on Netflix, Hunnam clarified that Legends is not intended to be Sons of Anarchy season 8. Instead, the Sons of Anarchy alums will be playing themselves in a different story. In the quote below, as well, Hunnam talks about how the idea for Legends came to him:

“All I can say is that it’s definitely not season eight of Sons of Anarchy. It’s the same group of actors, but we are all playing ourselves, going on a mad adventure, and coming together after 10 years apart, although maintaining deep friendship in that time.”

“It was an idea that I had; an opportunity to bring that group of people that I absolutely love together. Really born out of me having several dreams over a period of time about us all being back together. Obviously, something in my subconscious was yearning for that experience — to have another creative process with that group of people that I loved. So I wrote something that would allow that to happen. So here we go!”
