What could it mean for the story?

Godzilla Minus Zero Is Starting To Look Like A Secret Remake Of This 35-Year-Old Godzilla Classic

Some glaring similarities between death," and that this time, the scale would be bigger, with the King of the Monsters seemingly attacking both Japan and the United States. Little else had been explained, including whether Godzilla Minus Zero would keep the focus on Godzilla's battle with humanity or loop in a second monster. The latter scenario is confirmed to be the plan for the movie, as What Happened In Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah & How It Differs From Their Other Meetings

King Ghidorah and Godzilla in the 1991 movie

Unless Godzilla Minus Zero is hiding any more kaiju surprises, the movie and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah will share at least one important distinction. Ghidorah has been an enemy to Godzilla on eight different occasions, but in seven of these, other monsters were in play. Ghidorah may have been the central threat of Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, and more, but in each of those movies, there were other kaiju on hand, either as allies to Godzilla or Ghidorah. In the cases of Godzilla vs Gigan and King of the Monsters, both had monsters fighting alongside them.

So despite being Godzilla's biggest enemy, Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah to this day is the only film to focus its monster action exclusively on the fighting between the two kaiju, with no one else getting caught into the middle. Presumably, Godzilla Minus Zero will take the same approach, which should allow for an epic, one-on-one showdown to play out at the end. That's Godzilla Minus One's Similarities With Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah's Story Explained

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah Miki Saegusa

The connection between Minus Zero and Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah may go much deeper than its choice of kaiju. Most likely, it won't be a time travel story, nor is there any expectation for a monster to become a cyborg in 1949, but the trailer does highlight two interesting plot details reminiscent of the 1991 classic. The biggest link is the presence of the female character identified in the trailer as "Ms. Aoyama." Referred to as a "forecaster," she's shown making strange hand motions over her desk.

Exactly what her role isn't made clear, but it is suggested that her talents - whatever they may be - will be crucial to the battles ahead. She may be described as a weather forecaster, but her apparent importance is indicative of there being truly special about her. One conclusion that can be drawn about her is that she's a psychic. Such a development wouldn't be unprecedented in a Toho Godzilla film; in fact, the most important human character in the Heisei series of Godzilla movies possessed telepathic abilities.

Introduced in 1989's Godzilla vs. Biollante, Miki Saegusa was a psychic who shared a strong, emotional connection to Godzilla. The government used that link to their advantage by bringing her along on missions that involved Godzilla - and that included Godzilla Minus Zero Could Reverse The Biggest Theme Of Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah

Looking at the very different place Godzilla Minus Zero will most assuredly start from and how it contrasts with Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, it could be that the movie intends to offer an incredible twist on its underlying theme. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is a significant entry into the franchise because not only did it bring back Ghidorah, it redefined Godzilla.

In the Showa era,

Godzilla Minus Zero naturally isn't in a position to follow the same course, as its Godzilla is already perceived as a villain. But, by adding Ghidorah (and possibly a psychic) to the mix, it can head in the opposite direction taken by Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and have humanity actually come to see Godzilla as an ally before the credits roll.
