Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger won the 2021 girls doubles championship.
Five years later, the wildcard team reunited and is into the 2026 US Open women’s doubles final. The duo will face the top seeded team of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.
Montgomery and Krueger were down 8-2 in the ten-point third-set match-deciding tiebreak to the second seeded team of Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani before winning eight consecutive points to take it 10-8.

They faced many accomplished and established doubles players en route to the final.The team took on Wimbledon champion Linda Noskova and her Slovakian partner Rebecca Sramkova in the first round.

Montgomery and Krueger will be the underdogs in the final. Siniakova and Townsend have won Grand Slams together. Siniakova is vying for her 12th doubles Grand Slam women’s doubles title and her 39th career WTA doubles title. Townsend will compete for her fourth Grand Slam women’s doubles title and 17th WTA title.Between them, Montgomery and Krueger have one WTA doubles title. Krueger won that one with Sloane Stephens a couple of years ago at the Charleston Open.
Montgomery and Krueger will compete against Siniakova and Townsend in the 2026 US Open women’s doubles final on Friday, September 11.
Whatever happens, tennis fans hope to see more of this young American team together in WTA tournaments throughout 2026 and at the Australian Open in 2027.
