The team shot a collective +8 in the last round after shooting +13 and +16 in the first and second rounds to finish +37 on the par-72 course.
Van Beek leads Mizzou in scoring
Senior Fleur van Beek led the Tigers with a +4 total, shooting 73-72-75 to tie for 29th.Following van Beek, junior Alexandra Berglund shot 77-74-74 for a +9 total. She tied for 40th.
Freshman Page Bowman and sophomore transfer Grace Crawford both tied for 45th, each totaling +12 across the three rounds. Bowman shot 75-79-74 and Crawford shot 76-79-73. This was their first competition representing Mizzou.
Sophomore Addie Surber followed up with a +22 total, shooting 77-80-81. She tied for 57th.
Hole 11, a 410-yard par 4 with a long, sloping fairway and a bunker guarding the left side of the green, had the largest average above-par stroke difference of the tournament. The Missouri women felt this in the first round, all scoring a bogey, but rebounded to all shoot even-par in the third round.
Elite Competition
The Tigers faced an elite field at the prestigious tournament, held at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. This was Mizzou’s first time being invited to the annual competition, hosted by the ANNIKA Foundation (founded by legendary professional golfer Annika Sörenstam).Seven of the 12 leading division I women’s golf teams in attendance appeared at last season’s NCAA National Championship, including Mizzou.
Wake Forest logged a back-to-back victory after scoring a collective 10 strokes below runner-up Southern California.
The two other SEC schools that competed, Auburn and South Carolina, placed 4th and 5th, respectively.
The Tigers will compete next at home at the Johnnie Imes Invitational, hosted at The Club at Old Hawthorne Sept. 21-22.
