The world of college football is a grind for everyone involved. For Washington Huskies offensive line coach Michael Switzer, long fall camp days usually start with him arriving on Montlake anywhere between 5:00 and 5:45 in the morning, and with most practices scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m., there isn't a lot of downtime. While speaking with the media on Friday, Switzer went into detail about just how jam-packed the schedule of Jedd Fisch's coaching staff is every day.
"Before practice, we'll have your special teams staff meeting, we'll have a full staff meeting. As an individual coach, you're getting your stuff ready for the morning meetings, the cards for practice, the practice plan, individual plan. Following that, we'll have a team meeting. We'll go offensive, defensive meetings, we'll go special teams meetings again with the players," Switzer said. " We go out on the field. After we get off the field, we'll then take a quick shower.
We're right upstairs for a staff meeting; we start watching the film as a full staff, offense and defense together. Coach Fisch will take us through it. We'll go straight to special teams meeting in the afternoon: full team meeting, offensive, defensive meetings, offense meet, defense lift, defense meet, offense lift, and then we'll do a walkthrough after the walkthrough. We've got quick dinner and a staff meeting, usually at, like, 8:45 or 9:00, and then you're doing stuff after that to get ready for everything else.
