The will be facing the Miami Dolphins in their season opener, and they’re already down one of their key players on offense. will miss the game, and maybe another one, after he underwent a meniscus trim. That’s a big blow to the Raiders’ offense, as Bowers is one of the top targets on the team.

That means it’s next man up for the Raiders, and luckily for them, they already knew who was for Bowers, and it’s Michael Mayer, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Raiders TE Michael Mayer already was going to be a part of the team’s attack – and his role now is expected to grow without Brock Bowers,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Mayer is going into his fourth year with the Raiders, and he’ll probably have a big role under head coach Klint Kubiak. They’re probably not expecting him to be Bowers, but he can still make an impact in any way on the field.

The real hope is that Bowers is back for the Raiders sooner rather than later, as having him on the field gives them the best chance to win games.

The Raiders are also in Week 1 after getting injured during the preseason. The good news is that the running back is set to return to practice, and if all goes well for the rest of the week, he could be on the field against the Dolphins.

If he does return, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if they limited his carries and split his touches with Mike Washington Jr.
