Mr. Nagarajan also put up a board at the site, stating that the land was awarded to him through the court proceedings.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Nagarajan said he demolished the compound wall as the land belonged to him and that he was not required to issue any notice to or obtain permission from the Corporation to remove the wall on his property. He said he had all the court orders pertaining to the case and claimed that the orders had been passed in his favour.
Corporation officials, however, said the demolition was carried out without prior information to the civic body and they had not received any court order authorising the demolition. The demolition was stopped, following which both sides approached the police in connection with the dispute.
Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja will meet Mr. Nagarajan on Thursday to discuss the dispute and examine his claims relating to the land and the court proceedings.
Further action will be taken after the relevant documents and the legal position are examined, officials said.
