While Norvell is firmly on the hot seat, , per Pete Nakos of On3.

“The Seminoles opted to bring him back after a disappointing season, in part due to the finances of making a move. Norvell became the head coach of FSU for the 2020 season, after four successful seasons at Memphis. The first year did not go well, going just 3-6, but slowly, Norvell turned things around. In 2022, the team went 10-3 with a win in the Cheez-It Bowl. Then, in 2023, the team was at its best. FSU opened the season 11-0, but Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury against North Alabama.

FSU would go on to defeat Florida and then Louisville in the ACC Championship, but was left out of the playoffs, despite being 13-0. They would then fall 63-3 to Georgia in the Orange Bowl. From there, it has been downhill. Florida State went just 2-10 in 2024 and won just once in ACC play. Then, in 2025, the team went 5-7, but with just two wins in the ACC.

It is going to take a lot to. They are off this week before visiting Alabama. They also have games against Virginia, Louisville, and Miami on the schedule.
