Majoring in Cinema Studies with a minor in Comics and Cartoon Studies from the UofO, Kevin lives in Oregon with his wonderful wife, adorable dog, and sinister cat who is no doubt currently plotting his demise.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Mandalorian & GroguEver since his debut in 2019 in Star Wars canon. After all, he's only in his mid-fifties.

Like Jedi Master Yoda, Grogu is quite small despite their mysterious species' incredibly long lifespans. However, Star Wars fans know that "size matters not" when it comes to his power as a Force wielder. Thanks to his history with the Jedi and adventures with his adoptive father Din Djarin, Grogu has had plenty of opportunities to wield the Force in The Mandalorian series, The Book of Boba Fett, and most recently in Force Concealment

While an important Force ability, Grogu's ability to conceal his presence in the Force certainly isn't his most visually impressive or flashy. Nevertheless, it's certainly become crucial following Order 66 and the destruction of the Jedi Order in Revenge of the Sith. Following his escape from the temple and rescue thanks to Force Meditation

Grogu has also demonstrated an ability to tap into the Force while meditating. As such, one of the most impressive examples occurred in The Mandalorian season 2 on the Jedi world of Tython. Sitting on an ancient seeing stone, Grogu was able to meditate and reach out with the Force, sending a call to other Jedi which was heard/felt by Luke Skywalker himself from star systems away.

Force Agility

Grogu's eyes narrow in concentration as he stretches out a hand to use the Force on Ossus.

Like most Jedi Knights, Grogu can use the Force to enhance his physical mobility, something we see more of following his training with Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett. Relying on the Force, Grogu can jump much higher and leap further than he would have otherwise given his small stature, much like
Force Levitation

Mudhorn in The Mandalorian

One of the very first Force powers Grogu displayed was his ability to lift objects with the Force. As seen in The Mandalorian season 1, Grogu saved Din Djarin just in time, lifting an entire charging mudhorn before it killed his new Mandalorian protector. While it did fully drain his energy at the time, it's no wonder that the confrontation led to the mudhorn becoming the signet for Grogu and Djarin's "Clan of Two. "

Since then, we've seen Grogu use the Force to lift plenty of objects and creatures, from small alien frogs to much larger beings like Rotta the Hutt, as seen at the ending of the new Mandalorian & Grogu movie. That said, the first time lifting the mudhorn was a clear first genuine indication that Grogu was more powerful than he initially seemed.

Force Choke

Although Grogu's history is tied to the Jedi Order, there have been times when he's tapped into the darker aspects of the Force instead. As seen in The Mandalorian season 1, there was a moment when Grogu believed Cara Dune was harming Din Djarin, motivating Grogu to use a Force choke on Dune before he was stopped by Djarin. As such, it served as a crucial moment showing that while Grogu's potential could be within the light side of the Force, it could also be in the dark side as well (just like any other young Force user in the Star Wars franchise).

Force Sense

Ahsoka and Grogu

The Mandalorian season 2 proved that Grogu's Force sensitivity allows him to sense and commune with other Force users beyond words alone. Case in point,
Force Taming

In that same vein, Grogu's ability in the Force to sense and uniquely connect with other beings has a great practical application when it comes to various creatures, as Grogu has shown a talent for taming and calming animals using the Force. One of his most impressive moments using this power was undoubtedly calming down and putting
Force Healing

Force healing is a unique ability that's only recently become more prominent on-screen in the Star Wars franchise, most notably used by Rey Skywalker in 2019's The Rise of Skywalker and by Grogu himself.

Grogu's ability to create an incredibly strong barrier is arguably his most impressive Force ability ever. In The Mandalorian season 1, Grogu was able to block and divert the flames from an Imperial Remnant Incinerator Trooper from engulfing Din Djarin and their allies. Then, The Mandalorian season 2 saw Grogu creating a seemingly impenetrable barrier while meditating on the Tython seeing stone, presumably subconsciously while reaching out to other Jedi through the Force.

However, the most impressive Force barrier Grogu created was absolutely in The Mandalorian season 3, used to save Din Djarin, Bo-Katan Kryze, and himself from the major explosion, fire, and debris from the crashing cruiser that destroyed both Moff Gideon and his hidden Imperial Remnant base on Mandalore. It's easily one of the most visually stunning moments showcasing Grogu's power while he protects those he loves, while also showcasing how far the child has come since his debut in The Mandalorian's first season.

All in all, it will be very exciting to see what new feats of power or how much stronger Grogu may become in his future adventures with Din Djarin.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is now streaming on Disney+ from Lucasfilm.
