The have been making a habit out of robbing the of home runs. On Tuesday, to nail Teoscar Hernandez at the plate on an inside-the-park home run attempt. And now, on Wednesday, Carlos Jorge may have just one-upped De La Cruz by making a leaping catch at the wall to snag what would have been a long ball from Will Smith.
With one runner at first and no outs yet in the first inning, Smith squared up a high slider from Reds starter Rhett Lowder. This set off Jorge on a chase towards left-center field. Tracking the ball all the way, Jorge and he kept the Dodgers scoreless by keeping the ball in the park.

The Reds may be fading away from the postseason picture, but that doesn’t mean that they’re simply going to be throwing in the towel. They are playing for pride, and to set themselves up for a better 2027 campaign. Getting these sorts of plays does so much in rallying the team, especially when coming up against the reigning World Series champion Dodgers.
As for the Dodgers, they anyway even though the Reds have been pulling off flashy plays that prevent LA from scoring. It is also fitting that it was Smith who was on the receiving end of a home run robbery, as he homered on Tuesday for LA in their 3-2 win over Cincinnati.
Hernandez, who was stopped in his tracks as he tried to score an inside the parker, also hit a long ball on Monday in LA’s 6-3 win over Cincinnati. This is simply the Reds getting their revenge after the two Dodgers sluggers already did their damage earlier in the series.
At the time of writing, the game between the two sides remains scoreless. The Dodgers are looking to sweep this three-game set ahead of their weekend series against the Miami Marlins.
