First-round draft picks Nate Danielson and Carter Bear highlight the Detroit Red Wings' roster for the 2026 NHL Prospect Tournament at Little Caesars Arena from Sept. 12-15.
Danielson and Bear are two of Detroit's 24 recent draft picks, free agents and tryouts who will face prospect teams from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Danielson (ninth overall, 2023) made his NHL debut with the Red Wings last year with seven points (2 goals, five assists) in 28 games.
Bear (13th overall, 2025) spent the entire season with the Western Hockey League's Everett Silvertips with 77 points (36 goals, 41 assists) in 53 games.
Other top Detroit draft picks who will compete in the prospects tournament before the team opens training camp on Sept. 17 include:
▶ Dylan James: (40th overall, 2022) Winger recorded 32 points (21-11-32) in 40 games during his senior season at the University of North Dakota before netting two goals in two games with the Griffins
▶ Anton Johansson (105th overall, 2022) Defenseman had 17 points (5-12-17) in 42 games with Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League before adding six points (2-4-6) in eight games with the Griffins.
▶ Trey Augustine (41st overall, 2023) Goaltender posted a 24-9-1 record with a 2.11 goals-against average, a 0.929 save percentage and three shutouts in 34 games as a junior at Michigan State University before making two appearances with the Griffins.
James, Johnansson and Augustine are three of 13 draft picks, with the two first-round picks in addition to a pair of second-round picks, two third-round selections, three fourth-round picks, two six-round picks and two seventh-round picks.
The drafted prospects range in age from three 18-year-olds (Luka Arkko, Myles Brosnan and Adam Levac) to 24-year-old Kienan Draper.
The Red Wings will face the Stars on Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m., the Penguins on Sept. 13 at 7 p.m., and the Blue Jackets on Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.
