Rose-Hulman started its volleyball season with a road win by defeating Spalding 3-1, with set scores of 25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-14.
Rose was led defensively by Kennedy Otwell with 15 digs. The Engineers also had three players with double-figure kills led by Keira Ohse with 16. Emma Blanton recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs while Greta Carlson also reached double figures in kills with 10.
The Engineers (1-0) return to action on the road in the Rosalie Resch Invitational hosted by the University of Chicago this weekend. Rose-Hulman will face Chicago on Friday and Concordia (Wis.) and Edgewood on Saturday.

• Rose-Hulman 4, Greenville 0 — At Rose-Hulman, the host Engineers kicked off the 2026 season with a decisive shutou tof Greenville on Tuesday.
Just 10 minutes into the match, sophomore Pace Morel beat his defender off the dribble on the right side, and he fired a pass to junior Ryan Shapiro who tapped in Rose’s opening goal. Then, on a second corner kick of the game in the 18th minute, senior Oliver Fila’s lob connected with graduate student Wil Bell, who headed his shot into the back of the net, putting Rose-Hulman up 2-0.
In the 63rd minute, Shapiro took multiple dribbles, forced the Greenville goalie to slide and miss and fired in his second goal of the game. Rose secured the win as a Greenville miscommunication resulted in an own goal in the 67th minute.
Rose plays 7:45 p.m. Friday at Spalding in Louisville, Ky.
