The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday conducted a search at the residence of a candidate in Kalaburagi city as part of its probe into alleged irregularities in the recruitment of veterinary officers through the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC).

A team of CID officials searched the residence of Mamata, a candidate in the recruitment process, at New Oza Layout in the city. The officials scrutinised documents and digital materials in connection with the allegations surrounding the selection process.

The search assumes significance amid allegations involving former KPSC member Shanta Hosamani. The CID is reportedly examining the alleged role of Ms. Hosamani in facilitating Ms. Mamata’s appointment.

During the search, officials also collected information on financial transactions and persons who had been in contact with the candidate. The operation continued for several hours.

Around 20 officials, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police from the CID’s Bengaluru unit and Kalaburagi Deputy Superintendent of Police Aslam Pasha, were involved in the search.

The alleged irregularities in the KPSC recruitment process have come under scrutiny across the State, prompting the CID to examine the role of various individuals and the circumstances surrounding the selection of candidates.
