We have reached the dog days of August across baseball. As September approaches, the clock is ticking if you need to make up ground in your fantasy baseball league. The good news is that there are still some viable options available on the waiver wire if your squad needs reinforcements. Here are five players to consider adding who are still available in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets For Week 22

Zack Gelof, 2B/3B/OF, Athletics (40% rostered)

Injuries have limited Gelof to just 70 games this season. The good news is that is healthy now, and he continues to be productive when on the field. Across three games since he was activated from his most recent stint on the injured list, he is 5-for-12 with two home runs, three RBI, and five runs scored. For the season, he is batting .280 with a .502 slugging percentage and eight stolen bases. He plays his home games in a very hitter-friendly environment, which makes him an even more appealing target on the waiver wire.

Grant Taylor, RP, Chicago White Sox (29% rostered)

The White Sox are in first place in the AL Central, putting their dreadful 2025 campaign firmly in their rearview mirror. They added Luis Castillo to their starting rotation at the trade deadline in a move that sent Seranthony Dominguez to Seattle. Dominguez had already ceded the closer’s job to Taylor, who hasn’t allowed an earned run since July 2. For the season, he has a 32.5% strikeout rate to go along with his 2.20 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. His save total for the season sits at six right now, but expect that number to climb down the stretch.

Cole Carrigg, OF, Colorado Rockies (26% rostered)

There is a lot to like about Carrigg for fantasy purposes. He is contributing in a lot of different areas, batting .292 to go along with five home runs and seven stolen bases over 53 games. After showing a selective eye at the plate in the minors, he has a 20.1% strikeout rate and an 11.0% walk rate with the Rockies. Like many of his teammates, he has thrived at hitter-friendly Coors Field. He is batting .354 with a .419 wOBA there, compared to hitting .240 with a .331 wOBA on the road. The Rockies have six home games scheduled for Week 22, leaving Carrigg with significant fantasy upside.

Griffin Conine, OF, Miami Marlins (21% rostered)

Conine is swinging a hot bat for the Marlins, going 16-for-50 (.320) with a .414 OBP, six home runs, 11 RBI, and nine runs scored over his last 16 games. Over 55 games, he has already launched 13 home runs. Prior to this year, he had a total of five home runs over 54 career games in the majors. The Marlins will play six games next week, including a three-game series against a Nationals team that has the second-highest xERA and the fifth-highest WHIP in baseball. Conine is in a favorable position to stay hot at the plate.

Ben Joyce, RP, Los Angeles Angels (7% rostered)

Health has been an issue for Joyce throughout his career. Coming into 2026, he logged a total of 49 innings in the majors the last three seasons. Now back from right shoulder surgery, he has a path to saves with the Angels. He threw a scoreless inning in each of his first three appearances off the injured list, then logged his first save of the season while throwing a scoreless frame against the Rangers on Wednesday. Although he might not receive a ton of opportunities on an Angels team that is among the worst in baseball, Joyce is worth considering for fantasy managers in deeper formats who are desperate for saves.

Takeaway

Gelof, Carrigg, and Conine are three hot hitters worth targeting off the waiver wire for Week 22. If your fantasy squad needs saves, then consider picking up Taylor and/or Joyce. Be sure to check back throughout the season as we provide the top waiver wire options to help you win your fantasy baseball league.
