The New York Yankees have been holding strong in the postseason race, as their 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday gave them their 80th win of the season in 140 contests. Their 80-60 record has them in pole position in the AL Wild Card race and just 3.5 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays for the AL East lead. With the division title still in their sights, the Yankees should get a nice boost really soon in the form of their best hitter, Aaron Judge.
Judge hasn’t suited up for the Yankees since the 31st of May in a 13-8 win over the Athletics. The Yankees put him on the injured list after that game after it came out that he was suffering from a stress fracture in his right rib, which he has been dealing with since April. But Judge is working his backside off in an attempt to make it back to the field as quickly as possible.
On Wednesday, Judge was seen working out and running around the bases in Angel Stadium, which indicates that he’s closer to returning to the field than ever.

Judge said earlier that he hopes to return to the Yankees lineup without having to go through a rehab assignment in the minors, and perhaps this is the team’s course of action with the 34-year-old slugger.
The latest update in Judge’s recovery process is that he’s now about to face high-velocity pitches in an attempt to get him up to speed in terms of timing from the plate. Reports have stated that he is responding well to his rehabilitation process, so the Yankees should have him back sooner than later.
The Yankees have leaned on their depth to fill in for Judge amid his injury problems. New York has been relying on the outfield three of Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham, and Spencer Jones, which has been working well for the team especially as of late. But the team needs Judge to give their lefty-heavy lineup the balance it needs especially with the postseason inching closer and closer.
