Yahoo Fantasy Football is offering something I've never seen before: the option to include a Team Offense position in your league. We can now draft an offense, just how we do with defense/special teams spots in fantasy football. Except, we're rooting for scoring and yards, rather than sacks and turnovers. Again, this position is completely optional, but I don't see a reason to include a fantasy defense spot and not include a fantasy offense spot. It's good fun, and I'm here to provide some analysis on the scoring settings: How the Team Offense will work

Note: Scoring above is the default with the team offense custom recipe I took the game logs for each team last year to see which of these stats are driving the bulk of the fantasy scoring for Team Offense or "OFF", and without a doubt, it was touchdowns (any type). If unclear, that's rushing or passing touchdowns by the offense. Total touchdowns had a 0.87 correlation with the scoring, while the rest of the categories were down at 0.67, 0.65, 0.55, 0.54, and 0.14. For the non-nerds out there, a higher correlation means the more we should care about it. One touchdown being 3 points is equivalent to a team putting up 600 total yards based on the yardage scoring. The most yards by a team last year was 581 when the Rams did so in OT against the Seahawks. It just doesn't happen, and when it does, the team is scoring a bunch of touchdowns, to the point we shouldn't care about garbage time yards at all. We want touchdowns. That's true versus field goals as well, as that was the scoring category with the lowest correlation to OFF scoring. That's because when a team kicks a field goal, then they didn't score a touchdown, and TDs are worth 3x fantasy points, not to mention it increases their odds of winning or losing, which is the difference of 2 points. Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2026 NFL season 2025 Results The next question would be how many points does this new position score, and how valuable is it if we're in drafts. Last year's top team in OFF was the Rams at 13.1 fantasy points per game. This is a step above how many points fantasy DEFs and kickers score based on the default rankings. This makes them slightly more valuable on the surface. Below the surface, the OFF value for the top teams becomes even clearer. There's a big dropoff from the top teams – Rams (13.1), Patriots (12.4), Bills (11.9), Lions (11.5) – to the 12th-best team at 9.5 points. That 2.0 to 3.6 point advantage every week is higher than the difference between the top kickers and their replacements, and it's more than the difference between RB2s and RB3s. If your league has this OFF position, then you'll want to draft a great offense in the middle rounds. Let's say in the Round 10 range depending on when your leaguemates start the run. If the rest of your league is punting it off like they do with defenses, then I'd wait until the first team or two are drafted and then grab one. It's possible to stream a decent score, just like you can do with fantasy QBs, but I'd rather save my waiver priority and FAB on higher-upside plays as they surface. The top projected offenses before the season are pretty bankable, and I'm going to simply draft a top-five option. 2026 Team Offense Rankings This table has the betting markets' projected team totals for the 2026 regular season. This is pretty close to how I'd draft offenses for this new position. There could be slight differences for teams who are more prone to a field goal than touchdown, but this would get the job done.
