The success of Florida State football's wide receiver room could hinge on the performance and development of Tallahassee native Micahi Danzy. His athleticism has allowed him to move from running back to wide receiver with quick success, as he recorded 571 receiving yards and three touchdowns alongside 216 rushing yards and three touchdowns in his sophomore season. It was a strong year for Danzy after moving from running back to wide receiver, and head coach Mike Norvell feels he has a better understanding of the position now ahead of his junior season. "He's a legit receiver. Maybe last year you saw a really fast athlete that could play the ball, but there were still some areas where he could improve. Separation, some of the details of the routes," Norvell said in a post-practice press conference.

"He's done a great job of embracing that." Norvell mentioned that Danzy had a "big play" to end practice on Wednesday, something that he has consistently been praised for in practice and the two scrimmages. Danzy worked on his route running and being more efficient in securing the football during the offseason, and it seemingly has paid off. Danzy and Duce Robinson are expected to be the focal points of the aerial attack and the top two targets for quarterback Ashton Daniels. Robinson's skill set is a known commodity, and he's one of the best receivers in the country. Danzy's growth as the secondary playmaker could elevate the ceiling of the Seminoles' wide receiver room. Danzy was used heavily in go routes and screens last season in the pass game, but his role will evolve as he continues to refine his route tree. Daniels has spent months throwing and learning the nuances of his receivers, and while he was tight-lipped on what he felt the room's ceiling is, he's excited. "I think time will tell. I think you guys will see that. I'm really excited. You know that that's all I'm really going to say," Daniels said. "They continue to show up and put in work every single day." Danzy has been attached to Robinson in the offseason, working as Daniels alluded to. How that shows up on Saturday will determine how successful the Seminoles will be in the pass game, and Norvell seems to be high on the speedster. "Micahi's got great feet, obviously a high school running back; he's got vision, he's got separation ability. You see every part of his game, his physicality, blocking on the perimeter; he's really coming along," Norvell said. "For him, it's just the continued growth because he's still relatively new to the position, but you've seen some great strides." Florida State football schedule 2026
