The Colts visited Foxboro for a joint practice session with the Patriots ahead of their preseason opener on Thursday. The preseason matchup marks just the third preseason meeting between the teams. In their last matchup, the Colts hosted the Patriots in 1992 at the Hoosier Dome and won, 34-14.

Expect plenty of starters to be out for Thursday’s game on the Colts side, but that doesn’t mean some important names won’t get in the game. Quarterback Anthony Richardson will start and play the entire first half. Richardson hasn’t had an extended opportunity to play in a game since the 2025 preseason.
Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will be on the sideline for Thursday’s game, head coach Mike Vrabel said on Tuesday. He’s taken snaps in each of his first two seasons. This means quarterback play for Thursday’s game will be split between current backup Tommy DeVito and seventh-round rookie Behren Morton.
