The Texas Tech football team is once again ranked in both preseason polls heading into the 2026 season.
Last season marked the first time since 2008 the Red Raiders appeared in both preseason polls, coming in at 24th in both the Coaches and Associated Press Top 25 rankings. Tech will now head into the season as the 12th team in the AP poll after being 12th in the Coaches.
This marks the first time in program history Texas Tech has been ranked in the preseason AP poll in consecutive seasons and just the eighth time in history it has been included in such a ranking before a game is played.
Previous preseason AP rankings for the Red Raiders included 24th (2025), 12th (2008), 25th (2006), 21st (2005), 8th (1977), 20th (1973), and 19th (1954).
Texas Tech opens the season Sept. 5 at against Abilene Christian in Galaxy Stadium.
