[Getty Images] It's a record-breaking year for prize money at the US Open. The total prize money available to players is $108m (£80m), which is 20% more than the 2025 tournament - making it not just the largest-ever US Open prize pot, but the largest in Grand Slam history. For comparison, the prize fund for Wimbledon this year was £64.2m. Of the US Open prize fund, $2m (£1.47m) goes towards a 'player support programme' after calls from players for athlete welfare across the Grand Slams, which the US Open says is "designed to complement existing end-of-career pension funds" and "will bring a range of benefits for mid-career life events and retirement transitions".
