Vote for Blue FCU's Fort Collins-area Girls Athlete of Week (Aug. 24)

This is the first full week of the new sports season as fall sports kicked off around the state in Colorado.

You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on Aug. 27, with the winner announced later that same day.

Fans can nominate their favorite athletes (deadline: 11:59 p.m. every Sunday) and the Coloradoan sports staff will ultimately select the nominees each week.

Meet the Blue FCU Girls Athlete of the Week nominees

• Breckyn Billadeau, Windsor softball: The Wizards opened their season with a big 11-1 win over Wellington and Billadeau was at the center of it. The junior blasted a grand slam in the second inning that got the blowout rolling for Windsor, and she also added a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base.
• Emery Johnson, Fossil Ridge volleyball: The SaberCat senior was sensational in the season opener, leading a 3-1 win over a strong Rock Canyon squad. Johnson was everywhere, posting a career-high 21 kills with 14 digs and three blocks in a prolific individual performance.
• Claire Killingsworth, Rocky Mountain softball: They're back on the diamond for fall softball and Rocky began the season 2-2 in the FAN/NFCA Lead Off Classic. Killingsworth provided plenty of hitting, going an outstanding 10-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBIs, six runs scored and four stolen bases.
• Kate Lukens, Heritage Christian cross-country: What a strong start to the new school year for the Eagles senior at the Cheyenne Mountain Pre-State meet. Lukens won the small-school race and blew away the field while doing it, crossing the finish line more than 32 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
• Brooke Pravlik, PSD flag football: The Stars were already shining in PSD's first game of the 2026 season, a 47-7 drubbing of Denver East. The senior quarterback was electric in the victory, throwing for 197 yards with four touchdowns and rushing for 85 more yards and two TDs.
