Volleyball season is under way, but before too many serves fly by, we want our readers to choose the Herald-Times Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year. You can vote as much as you like until the poll closes on Friday, Aug. 28 at noon. Here are the nominees: Jenna Abram, Edgewood, Sr. S Led the area in assists with 778 (7.9 per set) to reach the 1,500 mark for her career. Also fired a team high 69 aces, serving at 90.3%. Added 52 kills, 25 blocks and 194 digs. Committed to play at Taylor. Olivia Bargen, North, Jr. OH/RSH New addition from Illinois led attack with 175 kills while hitting .195 with 30 blocks (15 solo). Shelby Bault, Seven Oaks, Sr. MH Strong leader at the net and one of the Firehawks' most coachable players. Everly Clark, South, Sr. OH Herald-Times Player of the Year had 354 kills while hitting .219. Fired 70 aces while serving at a 92.7% clip and had 47 blocks (17 solos) and 267 digs to earn IHSVCA 4A All-District honors. Taylor Helbert, Lighthouse Christian, Sr. MH The Lions' go-to player with 443 kills while hitting .272. Fired 71 aces while serving at a 93.8% clip. Had an area best 112 blocks (88 solos) and 262 digs. Ella LaRoche, Edgewood, Sr. MH Big at the net with 239 kills, hitting .242, and a team high 46 blocks (19 solos) to go with 51 digs. Ally O'Guinn, North, Sr. L First-year starter produced 445 digs (14.8 per match) with 39 aces and served at a 90.8% rate. Leila Quimby, Eastern Greene, Sr. L Steady piece as a now three-year starter for the T-Birds. Had 355 digs (14.8 per match) and 22 aces last year. Quinn Reynolds, South, Sr. MH Part of a strong multi-prong attack with 284 kills while hitting .216. Had 51 aces, a team best 86 blocks (16 solo) and 223 digs. Abree Wells, Owen Valley, Sr. OH Top all-arounder with 254 kills while hitting .213 with 35 aces while hitting on 97% of her serves and 262 digs. Has over 700 kills and 600 digs for her career.
