He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Prajna 2026’, an educational symposium for professional students, organised by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, at Ramakrishna Mutt.
Addressing students, Mr. Shetty said one of the qualities that deeply influenced Swami Vivekananda’s life and thoughts was his self-confidence. His strong faith in himself and in the culture, traditions, and values of India was noteworthy.
He said more important than every opportunity that comes our way in life is the attitude with which we face it. Sharing lessons from his life, he encouraged students to understand that making right decisions at the right time could transform their lives.
Appreciating service and educational activities undertaken by Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission, he said students should not only strive for success in personal lives, but also play their part in building a better society.
The programme was organised to mark Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the Parliament of the World’s Religions held in Chicago in 1893. It was conducted with the theme of ‘educate, empower, elevate: building lives of character and service’.
Following the inauguration, interactive sessions were conducted by resource persons.
An interactive session on ‘a degree is a beginning; skills, attitude and service are the path to a meaningful career’ was held.
More than 750 professional students from various institutions participated in the symposium.
