Head Coach Kevin O'Connell has announced that Carson Wentz will serve as the team's backup QB on Sunday and that J.J. McCarthy will serve as the 3rd QB.

“Carson (Wentz), he’s got almost 100 career starts, what he was able to do last year from a standpoint of very limited reps, but being able to apply a career's worth of experience, that’s kinda what you need to do as a backup quarterback.”

This will further discussions regrding what the future looks like for McCarthy with the Vikings, as this complicates it a bit. For now, it seems the Vikings are happy with their quarterback situation once again.
