The 2026-27 NBA schedule is out, meaning the Orlando Magic now know their opponents and their dates for the upcoming season. Revealed in the schedule, the Magic have a six-game homestand and a five-game road trip. These are arguably two of the biggest stretches on the schedule, and if the Magic are ready to compete with the best in the league, they will need to take advantage of their homestand and survive the grueling road trip. On the Full Court Magic Podcast, I reacted to the schedule release with my partner and co-host, Don Strouble. Here is my reaction and breakdown of the schedule. "January is the Magic's gauntlet. If they can survive January with a pretty good record, they'll be looking good going into the playoffs. Don, when I look at the six-game home stand, when you think about the Magic really taking up their success this year, it matters when you play on your home court and having that home-court advantage. You need to take advantage of your home games; there's no other way around it. You look at six games, you have to think the Magic bare minimum should win four, but the expectation should be winning six out of those six. I'd be happy with them winning five out of those six home games. But Don, it'll be a tough challenge. No matter the teams that they are playing, taking advantage of home court is a must-do." Now on the flip-side for the road trip... "There's a realistic possibility where, if stuff isn't going right for the Magic this late in the season, they can lose all five of these games in a row. Chicago should be the one that's a give-me, but you've seen the Magic underperform against lower-tier teams and overcompensate against better teams. You don't know what Magic team you're going to get. And maybe that's the standard that head coach Sean Sweeney wants to establish: be yourself every night, meet an expectation that the Magic are going to play like a championship team every single time they step on that court. That road trip is late in the season, so it could have playoff seeding complications—lots of it. Especially with Miami in there, I'm really curious to see how that's going to work out with Miami, Atlanta, and Boston. Just three games from that road trip alone could be real difficult challenges for the Magic."
