The New Orleans Pelicans are still one of the younger NBA franchises to exist, so they don't have the same length of history as some other teams. They are also one of, if not the only, NBA team who has never had a Hall of Famer on their roster. That is likely to change soon, though, as Chris Paul retired last year. Once basketball players are fully retired from the sport, they can be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Paul is a no-brainer first-ballot player, as he is one of the best point guards to ever play the sport. He averaged 16.8 points, 9.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game over his 21-year career. He is second in NBA history for steals with 2,728 and is in the top 40 in scoring. There have been few players with a better claim to the Hall of Fame for what they did on the court in the past 20 years. That helps make up for the reason that the Pelicans have not had a Hall of Famer, in that Paul never won a ring. He might not be alone as the only former New Orleans player in the Hall of Fame, though. Brad Botkin and Robby Kalland of CBS Sports took a look at the active players across the NBA. There are two former Pelicans who were deemed to have at least "probable" chances: Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday. Davis was listed in the "first-ballot locks" section, which makes sense for a member of the NBA 75 team. He doesn't have the best reputation within the city of New Orleans, but he is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever play for the team. He got his ring with the Los Angeles Lakers, has been a 10-time All-Star and five-time All-Defense.  Holiday is not a first-ballot player, but he did make it in the "probable" tier. He is a two-time champion, six-time All-Defense and two-time All-Star. He isn't the type to put up huge numbers every night, but he has been very good for a very long time and has earned a reputation that could win him over with the voters. Alongside those two, who have good chances of making it, fellow former New Orleans star CJ McCollum was marked as "outside looking in." McCollum is more of a "Hall of Very Good" player who has been an incredible scorer for a long time, but never took that next step.
