The New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts battled to a 13-13 tie in the preseason opener on Thursday night. It was an exhibition game where both offenses struggled to end drives with points. Patriots kicker Andy Borregales missed three field goals, including a potential game-winner from 49 yards out late in the fourth quarter. Those misses came in a game where the Patriots' defense forced four turnovers in total—two interceptions and two fumbles—that served as extra offensive possessions. And it still wasn't enough for the Patriots. Backup quarterback Tommy DeVito did find Kyle Williams early in the game on a 12-yard touchdown pass. He also had a few positive plays erased due to penalties. John Saunders Jr., Kindle Vildor, Dell Pettus and Isaiah Iton all had takeaways in the game. The Patriots won the possession battle by a 32:07-27:52 margin. Nevertheless, they were unable to capitalize on key opportunities. Here's how social media reacted to the 13-13 tie:
