Troy Aikman will be getting the Tom Brady treatment during the 2026-27 NFL season, according to a new report by Front Office Sports. The Cowboys icon and lead ESPN analyst will see restrictions in the lead-up to "Monday Night Football" broadcasts this season. After taking on a role as a consultant for the Dolphins, a role in which he was involved in Miami's search for a new head coach and general manager, Aikman will reportedly face the same kind of restrictions that the Fox analyst Brady has faced the past two seasons as a result of his ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. According to FOS, Aikman, like Brady, won't be allowed to attend practices at team facilities in the lead-up to their Monday night games. He'll also have to remotely attend production meetings, when a broadcast crew meets with the game's head coaches and key players (typically quarterbacks). "There have been no issues with Tom over the last two seasons," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement to Front Office Sports. "It is up to the coaches and clubs what they share with him. If they share information they shouldn't, then that's on them. The same parameters that pertained to Tom last season will continue this year and also will apply to Troy." Related:Icons of Cowboys past want a say in the team's future. With Jerry Jones, that's not likely Aikman and Brady both can conduct interviews outside team facilities and aren't prevented from broadcasting games involving the Dolphins or Raiders, respectively. The Dolphins, for what it's worth, aren't scheduled to play on MNF this season. The former Cowboys quarterback who won three Super Bowls in Dallas was brought on by the Dolphins last season after they dismissed then-general manager Chris Grier. Aikman contributed to Miami's search for a new GM, which concluded with the hiring of Jon-Eric Sullivan for the role. Aikman stayed to help with the search for a head coach as well, and in March Aikman said in a podcast appearance that he was "going to continue to work with [the Dolphins] in some capacity." Aikman has been the lead color commentator for ESPN's NFL coverage since 2022 when he and longtime partner Joe Buck joined the network from Fox. He and Buck will lead ESPN's coverage of Super Bowl LXI in February.  Related:How Troy Aikman and Joe Buck forged one of the greatest broadcasting tandems ever Subscribe Sign up for the Morning Roundup, a free newsletter delivering the latest North Texas news each morning.
