LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil has been on somewhat of a media tour in recent months.

When the Saudi Public Investment Fund withdrew its support for the league, O’Neil was forced to seek investment for 2027 and beyond. That means selling the tour to investors both privately and publicly.

O’Neil has given interviews on a LIV Golf broadcast and to various media outlets, explaining why his tour is worth supporting financially. This hasn’t resulted in any official investment yet.

He was also supposed to speak to analyst Trey Wingo, who has been extremely critical of LIV Golf over the years. However, this interview doesn’t appear to be materializing because of what happened after O’Neil agreed to talk.

Trey Wingo says he was ghosted by LIV Golf’s PR team after agreeing to talk to Scott O’Neil

Wingo has been covering LIV’s slow demise over the last few months, but he recently agreed to speak to O’Neil at LIV Indianapolis to discuss the tour’s future. But after O’Neil’s PR team got involved, Wingo says its unlikely this interview will take place.

Speaking on his podcast, Straight Facts, Homie!, Wingo said, “For those that say, ‘Well, how come you don’t have somebody from LIV on?’ Here are the receipts. Scott O’Neil is someone that we have reached out to on numerous occasions.

“We initially reached out in December of 2025 to Scott and the LIV PR team. December of 25 through March of 2026.

“We continued to reach out to Scott and the PR team for months as our LIV coverage and what was going on with LIV Golf ramped up. In April of 2026, we sent a direct email to Scott’s personal email.

“And from April 15th through July 30th of 2026, over a three and a half month period, we had no response.

“Then on July 30th of 2026, Scott O’Neil responded to us here at the Wingo Network and the Straight Facts Homie podcast and invited us to the Bedminster event for LIV in New York. And we said, ‘Look, we’re out traveling doing stuff for another football show that we’re doing, Inside Football.

“So, we couldn’t get there. And then he said, So, then he was like, ‘Well, why don’t you come out to Indianapolis, and I’d love to be on and talk with you and tell things about this.’ So, we were like, great.

We couldn’t get to Bedminster because of what we were doing. So, then we said, well, what about Indianapolis? And he said, ‘I’d love for you guys to come out and see what we’re doing, and I’d love to talk with you about it. I think it’d be great.’

“So, we spent five or six email exchanges directly working with Scott for that alternate visit in Indianapolis. And he confirmed that he wants us as his guests at LIV in Indianapolis. And he loops in his PR team, his communications team.

“The PR team responded once and then removed Scott from the thread on the email and we have had six follow-up attempts with the LIV PR folks to see if we could nail down that situation where we might be able to talk to Scott and come visit LIV Golf in Indianapolis, and we have gotten zero responses.

“So for anybody out there trying to say, ‘oh, you’re just doing this,’ you know that’s not true. None of that is true. We have tried to reach out on numerous occasions. We did finally get some communication from Scott, and he was very courteous and gracious, and we appreciated that.

“And then he tried to set something up, and he looped in his PR team, and the PR team they have ghosted as hard as anyone can ghost.

“So I have no idea if we’re ever going to hear back from them again. In all likelihood, it looks like the Indianapolis event is going to be the last one. And they have some really tough questions to answer.”

It’s a shame, as it would have been interesting to see O’Neil’s response to a tough line of questioning from Wingo. Perhaps the reason he was ghosted is because of fears that he wouldn’t have the responses needed for LIV Golf to benefit from the talk.
