The Detroit Tigers have seen plenty of movement among their top-end talent in the farm during the 2026 season, from players graduating to major leaguers to new faces added via the MLB Draft and trades.
The result, according to MLB Pipeline, is a small dip in its farm system rankings, released Sunday, but still a place among the top 10 talent pools in baseball. The Tigers are ranked No. 8, down three spots from Pipeline's preseason rankings.
That preseason ranking was buoyed at the time by top-100 prospects Kevin McGonigle, Max Clark (both in the top 10 at the time), Bryce Rainer and Josue Briceño. McGonigle has since graduated to the majors, where he is one of the game's top rookies, along with fellow infielder Hao-Yu Lee, among others. The Tigers added six prospects leading up the trade deadline, led by outfielder Zyhir Hope and pitcher River Ryan as part of the Tarik Skubal trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as their draft haul, headlined by No. 22 pick Cameron Flukey, a right-handed starter from Coastal Carolina.

Hope (No. 28) and Ryan (66) are top 100 prospects, according to Pipeline.
"Any team that trades away a two-time Cy Young winner like Tarik Skubal, even on a rental, should be able to add to its collection of top-tier talent," Pipeline writes, "and that’s what the Tigers did by acquiring Hope and Ryan from the Dodgers in that deadline swap. So even with the graduation of Kevin McGonigle, Detroit actually boasts more Top 100 prospects now than it did in preseason. Clark is already providing a positive impact on the MLB club’s push for a postseason spot, and Ryan could do the same once he recovers from hamstring injuries. The Tigers also looked bat-heavy heading into July, but the additions of Cameron Flukey in the draft and Ryan, Kash Mayfield and Brady Smith at the deadline have bulked up that department and made the system more well-rounded again."
Mayfield, a lefty, was part of the return from the San Diego Padresfor starter Casey Mize and farmhand Gage Workman. Smith, a right-hander, was part of the return for Skubal.
Pipeline's rankings refresh comes a week after Baseball America slotted the Tigers' system at No. 13 in its final update for the 2026 season. That represented a nine-spot climb from Baseball America's midseason rankings, fueled by the Tigers' work leading up to the trade deadline.
The Dodgers, who dealt three prospects to the Tigers for Skubal, lead Pipeline's updated rankings, moving up one spot from the preseason.

RHP Braxton Ashcraft (12-5, 3.88), Pirates: He is coming off an 85-pitch, complete-game win against the Marlines. He lost his no-hit bid when Owen Caissie homered to lead off the ninth. He typically has sharp control (2.2 walks per nine) mixing an elite curveball (opponent average .148 with a 39.6% whiff) and hard slider (91-92 mph) off 97-mph four-seamers and sinkers.
RHP Keider Montero (9-7, 3.22), Tigers: Take away the hiccup in San Francisco, and he’s pitched scoreless baseball this month, blanking the Athletics in Sacramento over six innings and, last time out, the Guardians over 6⅓ innings. This will his first start or appearance at PNC Park.
