Eric Canha-Imagn Images The NFL world was rocked this offseasonby a bombshell scandal involving former The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Pictures of Russini and Vrabel appearing to be intimate were made public, raising a litany of questions. Vrabel has largely escaped any true recourse for this matter. He remains the head coach of the Patriots, and that is unlikely to change. However, Russini resigned from The Athletic in the wake of this scandal. Fans have waited to see what The Athletic’s investigation into the matter throws up, but th findings from the investigation have not been released just yet. One NFL analyst has made a bold claim as to why that is the case. NFL Analyst Makes Big Dianna Russini Claim in Mike Vrabel Scandal KFAN radio host Paul Charchian appeared on the “CzabeCast” with fellow radio host Steve Czaban earlier this week. The two discussed the situation involving Russini and Vrabel, which led to Charchian’s claim regarding why The Athletic has not released its investigation yet. “Many believe the Russini thing is the tip of the iceberg on fraud. Things like voting for Coach of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year. These things are available to be had… This is so explosive and may include many other Athletic journalists that they will never release it, and I don’t think they ever will,” Charchian said, speculating.

On today's @CzabeCast I bring up the lingering funny smell of why the @TheAthletic has yet to release their Dianni Russini investigation. @PaulCharchian said he thinks it might be what I call, a "Mr. Chow Situation." pic.twitter.com/e6uo3uSSrj — Steve Czaban (@czabe)

Russini initially joined ESPN in July 2015, working in various roles. Through this work, she first began interacting with Vrabel back when he was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans. She also did sideline reporting for the XFL 2.0 during its initial relaunch in 2020. In August 2023, Russini left ESPN to join The Athletic. She became the platform’s leading NFL insider, often crafting intel pieces and sharing a glimpse behind the scenes for fans. She also made regular appearances on podcasts and other video-first media. Vrabel became head coach of the Titans back in 2018. He helped lead Tennessee to three consecutive playoff appearances and a spot in the AFC Championship Game in 2019. He was let go in 2023 and became the coach of the Patriots ahead of the 2025 season. This entire situation has certainly been a chaotic one. It’s understandable why The Athletic would want to be careful with the information their investigation uncovered. Whether this information is ever released remains to be seen. The desire for this information, and the speculation around the investigation, does not appear to be dying down any time soon. This article originally appeared on Pro Football Network.
