The clip is as innocuous as it comes, yet there's so much talk surrounding it a day after it was posted: On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles put up a slow-motion clip of QB Jalen Hurts throwing an interception to Quinyon Mitchell, who boots the ball to the heavens in celebration. Quarterbacks throw interceptions all the time. They do it in practice, in training camp, in the preseason and in games. Even the best ones do it. But, suddenly, there's a ton of attention on this clip, with former players and other notable names around the internet asking why the Eagles decided to post THAT video. And, I'll be honest, I'm perplexed.

Right on Q pic.twitter.com/ons19ZR2Hy — Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) August 12, 2026

5 million views in 4 hours. 😳 I won’t guarantee somebody gets fired for this, but given my experience with the lengths people go to protect Jalen, somebody getting cussed out for sure and then may get fired. https://t.co/CaQaD1vycA — Emmanuel Acho (@EmmanuelAcho) August 12, 2026 "I won’t guarantee somebody gets fired for this," wrote ex-Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho on X (formerly Twitter), "but given my experience with the lengths people go to protect Jalen, somebody getting cussed out for sure and then may get fired." The criticism of the Eagles didn't stop there

"The fact that this has become such a big deal when we are ONE season removed from him winning Super Bowl MVP... is outrageous."@danorlovsky7 reacts to Jalen Hurts viral in practice interception video 👀 pic.twitter.com/kkMzGfNJyx — Get Up (@GetUpESPN) August 13, 2026

This is one of the worst team-posted social media clips in practice history. https://t.co/j6OkHaf12s — Grant Paulsen (@GrantPaulsen) August 12, 2026 As former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky noted above, this seems to be aimed at the criticism of Hurts specifically. Because he's had his share of struggles under center -- particularly last season, but wasn't the ire aimed at now-former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo? -- perhaps the post is piling on and/or spotlighting Hurts's issues? What actually was spotlighted there was Mitchell doing a great job with that interception, not that the Eagles' admins unintentionally criticized the quarterback. And let's all remember that this is the same Jalen Hurts who is just two years removed from winning a Super Bowl. An interception in training camp thrown over the middle of the field doesn't mean as much as fans want it to mean. NFL fans noticed the Bills recently posted a video of a Josh Allen interception in training camp

NFL fans are hilarious Jalen Hurts INT = The world is on fire Josh Allen INT = Not a peep pic.twitter.com/riCuRiQEKu — BetMGM 🦁 (@BetMGM) August 12, 2026 Did everyone start worrying about Josh Allen after that or criticize the Bills admins for posting that video? Exactly. This "controversy" is overblown. This article originally appeared on For The Win: The Jalen Hurts practice interception ‘controversy’ is completely overblown | Opinion
