His phone reportedly was seized by the FBI last year and there has been a probe into his insurance companies and Guggenheim Partners for possible financial issues. It's certainly been an interesting week for him, to say the least. Walter agreed to terms to sell the Los Angeles Angeles to Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for $12.5 billion just one year after purchasing a controlling interest. With the Lakers unloaded, it raised the question, could the same happen with the Dodgers? Bill Shaikin and Maddie Lee of The Los Angeles Times reported that there aren't plans for the Dodgers to be sold at this time. One intriguing tidbit of information that has popped up throughout the week because of the questions swirling around Walter is the fact that Shohei Ohtani has a clause in his contract and can opt out if Walter or president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman is no longer involved with the team, per ESPN.

While this is the case, Sam Blum of The Athletic reported that even if Walter were to sell the team, Ohtani "likely" wouldn't consider opting out, at this time. "Shohei Ohtani likely wouldn't consider exercising the 'key-man' clause in his contract, should Mark Walter look to sell his ownership of the Dodgers, a source with knowledge told The Athletic," Blum wrote on X.
