WNBA fans are pointing to the league’s own rulebook and calling for action against Natasha Cloud following her confrontation with Enes Kanter Freedom.
Tensions boiled over late in the third quarter when Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud directly confronted former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom sitting courtside.
Kanter, who was wearing a shirt referencing anti-trans commentary, stood up and stepped near the court line as Cloud shouted and pointed at him, forcing arena security and players to quickly separate the pair.
Following the heated interaction, Cloud opted not to address reporters at the post-game press conference, choosing instead to meet privately with team and league security officials.
But fans have noticed that perhaps there should have been more to the matter.
WNBA appear to have broken CBA rule after Enes Kanter and Natasha Cloud incident
Under WNBA CBA rules and player conduct guidelines, players are strictly prohibited from confronting spectators or initiating non-game physical escalations near the sidelines.
Since Natasha Cloud approached the baseline to verbally confront Enes Kanter, league protocols dictate she could face a technical foul assessment, financial fine, or potential suspension.
This is exactly what fans were discussing on social media.
One fan said: “There was ZERO DONE.”
“The rules only apply when they want them to. WNBA isn’t a serious organization. It’s a pathetic joke, a bad one at that.” This supporter didn’t hold back.
Another fan even suggested Cloud should have been the one booted out: “Exactly! Why did he get kicked out? She should have been the one booted.”
“That’s bad. Baffled that they removed Enes instead of her. She instigated the interaction.” This fan agreed.
One supporter doesn’t expect anything to be done: “Anyone think the WNBA will hold themselves accountable??? Me neither.”
It’s highly unlikely that the WNBA will take action on Natasha Cloud, as up until this point, they’ve refused to make any kind of decisions that could cause controversy.
Plus, they’re still refusing to address the whole transgender debate, despite the ongoing incidents.
