
The Saturday showdown between No. 4 Texas and No. 1 Ohio State has much more at stake than a win or loss. For Texas QB , it’s proving he’s NFL material.
Ironically, nobody recognizes that more than the Buckeyes themselves.
On Friday, Ohio State coaches Manning brings to the field that they plan to watch for, per Bruce Feldman of The Athletic.

One defensive coach talked about the difference between him on film and how he was last year.
“He’s fixed his throwing mechanics” he said.
Last year, against Ohio in a 14-7 loss. He added one touchdown and threw one interception. The Ohio State defense stopped him in his tracks.
Additionally, a source close to the Longhorns revealed to The Athletic a critical update about Manning.
“He’s cleaner — and he’s way more confident now,” the source said. “There’s more talent around him. He was the team’s best running threat last year.”
But a source with the Buckeyes emphasized the one thing that could “kill” them.
“His legs will kill you if you let him out” he said.
Texas got the season started in the right way, a blowout 59-7 loss over Texas State last weekend. Ohio State steamrolled past Ball State 56-3.
Last season, Manning finished the season with 3,163 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Against Texas State, he threw for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns.
He is highly regarded as a top draft prospect heading into 2027. Some are considering him as the possible No.1 pick in the Draft.
In five games, Ohio State holds the edge over Texas 3-2.
