A marquee matchup will remain on the Texas football team's schedule. On Wednesday, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian insisted that Texas will still play Michigan at Royal-Memorial Stadium during the 2027 season. Earlier this week, fbsschedules.com reported that Michigan had agreed to move its game against Eastern Michigan to Sept. 11, 2027. That date had previously been reserved for Michigan's first-ever trip to Austin. More:Subscribe to the Statesman's Texas sports newsletter Sarkisian noted that the NCAA recently adopted a rule that will push the start of most seasons into "Week 0." The NCAA had traditionally put just a handful of games on its "Week 0" schedule, and many of those contests required a waiver. For example, just eight FBS-level games were played during last week's "Week 0" with one of those games being held in Ireland. "I think the date might be changed," Sarkisian said. "I think what you all need to understand is they changed our calendar for next year so everybody's playing Week 0 so some of the dates of those games are getting moved around. I know we're playing Michigan, I just don't know exactly when."
