Heading into his second full starting season, quarterback Marcel Reed is coming off his career year under center, leading the Aggies to their first 11-0 start since 1993 and throwing for 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, combined with over 500 yards and six rushing scores.
However, Reed struggled down the stretch of the season, while throwing eight of his 12 interceptions against top 35-ranked defenses, including four in losses to Texas and Miami in the first round of the College Football Playoff, which has been his primary focus this offseason.
Working with private QB coach , who also coaches future HOF and Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Reed's accuracy, touch, and overall decision-making have improved, and through 11 preseason practices, the Aggie signal-caller continues to string together impressive throws, including his recent deep ball to Alabama transfer WR Isaiah Horton during Saturday's scrimmage.
While four new starters along the offensive line likely dictate Marcel Reed's performance throughout the 2026 season, this is by far the deepest and most talented wide receiver rotation in Texas A&M history, even after KC Concepcion was selected 24th overall by the Cleveland Browns.
This week, Marcel Reed was named to the Davey O’Brien Award Watch List and the , proving that, despite the narrative that Texas A&M is "overrated" after being ranked 8th in the preseason AP Top 25, the redshirt junior QB has everything at his disposal to match his 2025 production and cut down his turnover numbers.
