For the first time this century, the full-time midfield logo at Kyle Field will not have a bevel. After two seasons with the lone star logo at midfield, and several decades before that with a TAM logo that featured a beveled T, Texas A&M announced on Wednesday that this season the midfield logo will be an UNBEVELED “TAM.” This is the first time Kyle Field’s full-time midfield logo has featured an unbeveled logo since natural grass was re-installed 30 years ago.

I broke the story earlier this summer that Texas A&M had made the block TAM it’s primary logo once again (rather than the lone star logo), and this definitely seems to align with that change. Of course the Texas A&M helmets have always featured an un-beveled T, so it only makes sense for the field to match that identity.
The bevel has always been pretty divisive among A&M fans, with many advocating to “level the bevel” for decades now. It will be interesting to see if this is a football-specific change or if it signals a larger logo shift across the athletic department.
