College football is so back this weekend, and we all know a crazed fan or two that goes particularly hard for their team. But apparently there's one Texas university fanbase that is known for doing the most. Although Texas A&M hasn't won a college football title in nearly a century, Aggie fans have claimed a No. 1 title no fan base wants. A new statewide survey conducted by Overton Insights found that Aggies are the most obnoxious fan base in Texas. The survey was part of a part of a broader statewide poll sponsored by the Texas Public Policy Foundation to show how a simple question about college football fandom is received among political parties. The results showed a partisan divide between fans of Longhorns and Aggies, which checks out given the schools storied history as rivals. The Aggies narrowly topped Texas Longhorn fans by just over two points, with 29.7% of Texas voters considering Texas A&M's the most obnoxious in the state. UT Austin followed closely behind in second place for obnoxious fans with 27.4%.

According to the report, Republican voters say UT fans are the more obnoxious of the two rivals, 31.9% compared to 24.1% choosing Texas A&M. Democratic voters say the opposite, and by a wider margin with 37% picking A&M compared to just 20.9% for UT. "It is interesting that Texas and A&M are far ‘above' their statewide competitors when it comes to most obnoxious fan base," said Overton Insights Poll Director Mark Cunningham in a release. "While the SEC schools are among the biggest and wealthiest in the state, it's somewhat shocking that their fan bases are considered far more obnoxious than that of reigning Big 12 champion Texas Tech, which has come under fire recently due to NIL and the transfer portal." Other Texas universities made the report including the University of Houston which ranked third at 11.2% while Texas Tech came in fourth for obnoxiousness with 10.3% despite their fans tortilla-throwing tradition. Baylor (9.6%), SMU (6.7%), and TCU (5.1%) rounded out the report. However, Cunningham believes these statistics could change as younger voters head to the polls. "While A&M and UT are currently way ahead in terms of obnoxiousness, there may be a changing of the guard coming, with voters between 18-29 voting Texas Tech (24.1%) as the most obnoxious fan base, slightly ahead of A&M (20.4%), Texas (18.2%), and surprisingly, TCU (17.3%)," Cunningham concluded.
