Desmond Bane is continuing to build a strong reputation in the NBA, and that recognition is carrying over into the virtual world.
The former TCU star is rated an 84 overall in NBA 2K27, according to the game's official Top 100 player ratings. Bane comes in at No. 65 overall, placing him in the bottom half of the 100 highest-rated players entering the 2026-27 NBA season.

The 84 overall rating represents a one-point increase from where Bane began NBA 2K26. He was initially given an 83 overall rating in last year's game, making the latest update another sign of how highly his development continues to be viewed.
Bane is entering his second season with the Orlando Magic after being traded from the Memphis Grizzlies in 2025. His first season in Orlando was arguably his most productive from an all-around standpoint.
He started all 82 games while averaging 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists per game. He also shot 39 percent from three-point range and just under 91 percent from the free-throw line.
Those numbers helped establish Bane as one of Orlando's most dependable offensive players. His ability to knock down shots from the perimeter while also contributing as a secondary playmaker gives him significant value alongside the Magic's young core.
Bane's 84 overall rating also puts him in the same tier as several recognizable NBA names. He shares that rating with players such as De'Aaron Fox, Mikal Bridges, and former Grizzlies teammate, Ja Morant.
For TCU fans, seeing Bane continue to climb the NBA 2K ratings ladder is another reminder of just how far the former Horned Frog has come. Bane spent four seasons at TCU, finishing his college career as one of the program's most accomplished players before becoming the No. 30 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
