Monday’s practice for the Chargers began with a fairly mixed bag of availability. Offensive tackle Rashawn Tackle sat out his seventh consecutive practice, but cornerback Tarheeb Still returned — albeit in a limited fashion — after missing the previous six days alongside Slater.

ESPN’s Kris Rhim reported a whopping 10 players who were not suited up for Monday’s practice, with many of them veterans like Khalil Mack, Denzel Perryman, and Donte Jackson. While the total number looks daunting, it’s highly likely due to the coaching staff giving out well-deserved veteran rest days.

However, seeing names like Akheem Mesidor, Quentin Johnston, and Tre’ Harris isn’t the most fun at this point, either. Mesidor received less than 20 snaps against the Texans while Johnston and Harris did not participate at all.

Now to be fair, some guys may need a day to recuperate and get themselves ready for this week’s joint practice with the 49ers on Tuesday. Joint practices usually come with a healthy amount of competitive reps against the opposing team, so knowing that, it’s likely some other guys were kept out for precautionary reasons.

We’ll know more tomorrow in regards to how serious any of these ailments are, but for now, not something to get worked up about.
