The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of South Western Railway (SWR) rescued 33 children, including six girls, and seized items valued at about ₹12.5 crore during August 2026.

Under Operation Nanhe Faristheh, the RPF rescued 27 boys and six girls who were in need of care and protection and handed them over to NGOs and the police for further assistance and reunification with their families, a release from SWR said.

Four elderly persons, including two men, were also rescued under Operation Dignity.

Under Operation Uplabdh, aimed at curbing the sale of railway tickets on the black market, the RPF arrested 12 touts in 12 cases under Section 143 of the Railways Act. It seized 18 live tickets valued at ₹53,001 and 56 used tickets worth ₹2.32 lakh.

Under Operation Satark, the RPF detected eight cases involving liquor and seized 154 bottles, totalling 89 litres valued at ₹55,162.

In eight cases under Operation Narcos, 127.5 kg of ganja was seized, including 14.98 kg of amphetamine valued at ₹11.98 crore in one case, in which three persons were arrested. Six persons were arrested in the narcotics-related cases.

The RPF recovered passengers’ belongings worth ₹66.41 lakh on 67 occasions and returned them to their owners.

An average of 36 to 40 express and special trains were escorted daily by over 125 RPF personnel across the zone. In addition, 24 persons were arrested in 14 cases involving unlawful possession of railway property, with stolen property worth ₹2.28 lakh recovered, the release said.
