The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal's plea seeking exemption from surrender until his appeal against his conviction and 10-year prison sentence in the 2013 rape case is heard. The court directed Tejpal to surrender within two weeks and submit a surrender certificate. Justice Alok Aradhe rejected Tejpal's application seeking exemption from surrender and directed him to place the surrender certificate on record. The court said that if the certificate is filed on or before September 22, his appeal will be listed for hearing on the same date.
