The Indiana Fever are in the thick of the WNBA playoff picture heading into the home stretch of the regular season. The Fever have looked like one of the best teams in the league over the second half of the season, led by the big three of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aaliyah Boston.

Each of the three has looked like an MVP candidate at various points of the season, but as the campaign draws nearer, Boston left one notable name out of the conversation on her Post Moves podcast with WNBA legend and broadcaster Candace Parker.

“I think in terms of MVP, it may not be in this order, but to me it’s A’ja Wilson. Surprise, surprise. Olivia Miles,” Parker said.

“Kelsey Mitchell!” Boston interjected.

“Can I get there?” Parker asked. “Kelsey Mitchell. Paige Beckers. Those are my 4. I think you could swap, but I think Olivia Miles gets the edge just because they’re the number 1 team in the league. You know, they’re ahead, head and shoulders, I would say, above. Um, but yeah, I think A’ja Wilson, again, unless voters get tired, you know, this mid-season, yeah, it’s hard not to have her in the conversation.”

Boston spoke with local media on Thursday about how great an experience playing with Mitchell has been.

“Kelsey comes in here and she works every day,” Boston said. “I mean, she gets up extra shots, she just comes in and does what she needs to do. And I think honestly, she’s really just the MVP.

#Fever star Aliyah Boston on Kelsey Mitchell:

“She’s really just the MVP. I think that’s just what she’s been doing. Every single night you see her come out and she drops I don’t even know how many points at this rate. She defends her butt off. … I’m really proud of her.” pic.twitter.com/eIpH5rql3t

“Like, I think that’s just what she’s been doing every single night. You see her come out and she drops, I don’t even know how many points at this rate. She defends her butt off and then we just come out here and we play. I mean, she does exactly what she needs to do, so I’m really proud of her.”

“There’s genuinely no defending this.”

Fans on social media, however, were incensed that Mitchell’s backcourt make isn’t being mentioned by Boston as an MVP candidate.

“Not even a mention of CC by her own teammate. AB has been moving weird this entire season and Idk why Understand they all are pushing for Kelsey but to not even put CC in that list is just straight up disrespectful,” one fan posted on X.

“I’ve been saying for months that AB has turned on Caitlin. She loves Kelsey because KM’s style allows AB to play ‘main character’ by being the hub,” someone else added.

“There’s genuinely no defending this. It’s one thing for AB to be gassing up KM cause that’s her teammate, but Paige is playing worse ball than Caitlin AND LOSING and you’re putting her over CC in MVP convos,” another fan wrote.

The reality is that Boston, Clark, and Mitchell have all spoken at length about how much they love playing with each other. Mitchell is a respected vet who is having a career year, so it makes sense that Boston is spotlighting her, just like Clark has done at every opportunity.
